Medicine. Aloe vera on the table

Where does aloe Vera come from?

Originally, aloe Vera is a plant that grows naturally in the hottest regions of the globe (tropical or subtropical regions), such as Mexico, North Africa, India, China, or the Middle East. But today, this plant has become so famous that it is cultivated and consumed all over the world!

Among the many¬†species of aloe vera¬†that exist (a little more than 300), the most famous and the most used remains the Barbados aloe Vera (aloe Vera Barbadensis), easily recognizable by its long, serrated leaves, of green color, which sometimes draws on the gray with more pink undertones on edge. This is also from aloe Barbados that makes the¬†aloe vera juice¬†… a famous drink for its nutritional richness uncommon. This is far from being a coincidence, especially when we know that aloe vera is a naturally (very) rich plant:

  • In minerals such as zinc, sodium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc …
  • In vitamins of groups A, B (vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, and B9).
  • In essential amino acids, very important compounds insofar as the body do not produce them, and it is essential to provide them externally. Out of the eight amino acids essential to the body, aloe vera contains 7!

This is why aloe vera is a super plant, which has also been used for several thousand years for medicinal purposes.

5 reasons to grow it at home

  • Aloe vera is an easy to grow graphic plant

Aloe vera is one of the¬†indoor plants¬†that immediately brings a touch of modernity and pep’s to the decoration with its long pointed leaves. But what makes this succulent almost a home plant is that it is very hard yet undemanding. Indeed, thanks to the famous gel which flows in its leaves, aloe vera requires only one watering per week and is perfectly resistant to small oversights (that the one who has never forgotten to water his plants throw us the first Pierre !); it is, therefore, an ideal plant to offer to those who do not have a green thumb!

Indoors, aloe vera is grown in pots. It supports heating without flinching but prefers light baths to the lack of natural lighting.

Outdoors, the plant is not very hardy and does not tolerate temperatures below 10 ¬į C. As it is not frost resistant either, it is imperative to bring it in before the first cold.

  • Aloe vera, a champion plant in the fight against indoor pollution

Once properly installed in your living room, office, or bedroom, aloe vera is ready to work real little miracles to purify the ambient air and make it healthier and more breathable. Indeed, a single aloe vera plant can absorb almost all the carbon monoxide in a room, and most pollutants such as benzene, toluene, and formaldehyde, these molecules present in some household products and can be responsible for many ailments.

That’s not all: the night, the plant releases oxygen and acts even on the general welfare (which is why many people choose to put their aloe vera in the¬†room¬†at bedtime).

And as if that weren’t enough, aloe vera can also reduce allergies and limit the proliferation of dust mites. For a bit, we would be tempted to install an Aloe vera in all the house rooms, right?

  • Natural solution against the waves

Ever wanted to run to the nearest florist to buy an aloe vera? Wait a little longer, because the benefits of this plant don’t stop there! Yes: according to some studies, this plant not only has depolluting capacities, like many other green plants, but it would also have the power to¬†fight against the harmful aspects of electromagnetic waves.

This is not negligible, especially when we know that in 2011, the World Health Organization (WHO) decided to classify radio waves as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” Without forgetting the impact of radio frequencies on fertility.

As a precaution, it is therefore strongly recommended to place an aloe vera plant next to your computer, your Wi-Fi box, and, once again, your bed!

  • Aloe vera, an SOS treatment against burns

If you want to benefit from the¬†virtues of aloe vera gel daily, cultivating a single plant at home will not be enough, and it is better to buy aloe vera in a bottle (in the organic department of supermarkets, in specialized stores, in cosmetics brands …). As a gel, it can be stored in the refrigerator and is used as a skincare product to moisturize, soothe and heal.

Many brands also market it in the form of drinks for those who wish to benefit from its detoxifying properties, naturally regulate their blood sugar, stimulate their immune defenses, boost their gastrointestinal health.

But even if you only have a small plant at home, know that nothing prevents you from exceptionally using the gel to¬†soothe a burn or a sunburn! To take advantage of aloe vera’s multiple beneficial properties on the skin, it’s simple:

Just cut a leaf with scissors.

  • Open it lengthwise.
  • Take the gelatinous substance to apply it directly to the skin.

Applied as a mask on the face, Aloe vera is also an excellent moisturizer that leaves the skin very soft. A real miracle plant, very popular with lovers of home skincare and cosmetics!
